Traditional mowing at the Archaic House of Weyersheim

Sunday, August 28, the association s'Kleenderfel ("the small village" in Alsatian dialect) is holding an open house with demonstrations and animations in Weyersheim, north of Strasbourg and one kilometer from l'accroche coeur, charming bed and breakfast in Alsace.

On the agenda: ancient harvest in traditional costume to rediscover of one of the first civilized human gestures : mowing the wheat, picking up the ears, binding sheaves, gleaning the ears.

The association will demonstrate threshing wheat with the flail and the thresher. Other workshops are planned:

  • stringing tobacco leaves,
  • baking bread,
  • iron working in the forge,
  • weaving.

There will be a bar and a restaurant on site. Admission is free. L'accroche-coeur, charming bed and breakfast in Alsace, is one kilometer from the village of Weyersheim. It can be reached by car, but also by bike.

L'accroche coeur, charming bed and breakfast, rents bikes (4 to 5 bikes in very good condition, and a baby seat) : cycling to Weyersheim takes less than ten minutes.
